New windows and doors in Lochgelly: a full house in anthracite grey
By Tony Kalsi, Owner · 16 October 2026
Eco Glaze Scotland fitted a full house of new windows and doors in Lochgelly, replacing every window and door across a traditional single-storey home. The homeowner went for anthracite grey throughout: nine new PVC windows, two new doors and a sliding patio door, all in the same deep grey. Set against the home’s white brick front, the finished job lifts the whole look of the property.

What we fitted
A full house of new windows and doors in Lochgelly
This was a full-house fit-out. We took out the old windows and doors right across the property and fitted nine brand new PVC windows, two new doors and a sliding patio door, every one finished in anthracite grey. On a home like this one, with a bay window on the front and a run of windows along the street, matching every frame and door to the same colour is what pulls the whole look together.
The finish
Anthracite grey against a white brick front
Anthracite grey is one of the colours we fit most often, and it is easy to see why on this job. The deep grey frames stand out crisply against the white brick, and because every window and door is the same colour, the front reads as one clean, modern finish rather than a patchwork of old and new. The frames are made to measure for each opening, so they sit square and tidy against the existing stonework.
The doors
The new front door and the sliding patio door
The two new doors were finished in the same anthracite grey as the windows. At the front, the new door has a decorative glazed panel and a glazed panel above it, so the hallway keeps its natural light. Round the back, the sliding patio door opens straight onto the decking, making the most of the garden and letting light deep into the room.
Replacing windows and doors in Lochgelly
Lochgelly sits in Fife, so Fife Council is the local planning authority for work like this. For most homes, replacing the windows and doors is straightforward, but the rules are tighter in a conservation area. The Scottish Government’s guide to conservation areas explains that the planning authority decides which parts of its area are of special architectural or historic interest, and that most works to the outside of a building there will need planning permission. If a home is a flat, or sits in an area with an Article 4 Direction, permission for replacement windows and doors may be needed too, so it is worth a quick check before the work starts. Every new window we fit is made to meet the current Scottish building standards, which set out what a replacement window has to achieve.
